A new course designed by Christy O’Connor and Peter McEvoy was signed on Fota Island in 1993. Significant was the reorganization of the formation of Jeff Howes golf design. The course of 18 greens again in September 1999. Fota Island Golf Club is the host to several golf championships, including the European Seniors Open, the Irish Open, PGA Championship of Ireland and the Irish Amateur Open.
